Start with the ECU and the goal
The right tuning platform depends on the vehicle and the job. A cammed GM street car, a Coyote Mustang, a Dodge Hemi, a Jeep, and a classic LS swap may all need different paths. The best starting point is the ECU, the fuel system, the modifications, and how the vehicle will be used.
Modern Performance and Tuning works with platforms listed on the Dyno Services page, including HP Tuners for GM, Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Holley EFI, Holley Sniper, SCT for select Ford applications, ECU flash work, and LS swap bench start up ECU flashing.
HP Tuners for GM, Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep
HP Tuners is commonly used for LS and LT based GM vehicles, including Corvette, Camaro, Caprice, Chevy SS, G8, Silverado, Sierra, Yukon, Denali, and other 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.2, and 7.0 combinations. It is also used for many Ford Mustang and F150 applications.
For 2015 and newer Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler vehicles, the ECU often must be unlocked before tuning. That is why it is important to confirm the vehicle details before booking. The right plan avoids delays and makes sure the vehicle can actually be tuned when it arrives.
Holley EFI, Holley Dominator, Terminator X, and Sniper
Holley systems are popular for engine swaps, higher-horsepower builds, and vehicles that need standalone EFI control. Holley HP, Holley Dominator, Holley Terminator X, and Holley Sniper all have different strengths, wiring needs, and setup requirements.
For Holley Sniper equipped vehicles, Modern Performance notes that the vehicle must have a Holley controlled distributor for tuning. That detail matters because ignition control affects whether the tune can be dialed in correctly.
SCT and older Ford applications
SCT is still useful for specific Ford vehicles. Modern Performance and Tuning lists SCT support for 1997 to 2004 Mustang and Crown Vic applications, while 2005 and newer Mustangs are generally handled with HP Tuners.
If you are unsure which tuning route fits your Ford, send the vehicle year, engine, ECU, current modifications, and whether the vehicle is naturally aspirated, boosted, or swapped through the contact page.
